Hi, I’m Scout
Recently we were contacted about a 4.5 year old goat named Scout who had recently and unexpectedly lost his friend, leaving him as a single goat with no other farmed animal companions. It is not an ideal situation for a goat to live alone, especially after losing a friend. Like people, goats can experience grief and depression, which can manifest to behavioral changes and physical ailments. After taking some time to consider what was best for Scout and his family, they decided the best option was to surrender him to Barn Sanctuary.
After he was confirmed negative for CAE/CL, we were given the go ahead to bring Scout home. After his arrival, he was assessed by our local farm vet to address some minor health issues. Before coming to Barn, Scout underwent a procedure that created an opening to his urethra through his perineum after he had become blocked several times. Due to this anatomical change, he will require daily maintenance to the area to keep the skin clean and free of urine scald.
Scout is getting settled in and will spend some time in quarantine before joining his new herd in our goat barn. We can't wait for him to meet his new friends!
Your sponsorship will help provide daily care, regular medical checkups, and cover any unexpected emergency care. Please sponsor Scout to provide the care he deserves!
