Hi, I’m Mike

Mike was surrendered to us as a young calf by a local Michigan dairy farm in October, 2017.  The farmer was unable to give him the professional medical care he needed to survive.

Mike arrived with bone deformities in his two front legs, two cataracts, and WAS blind in one eye. Thankfully, we were easily able to correct his legs with splints. However, we quickly learned that preserving his eyesight would be a much bigger hurdle.

To give Mike the best chance at keeping the limited vision he had, Dan and Mike went on a road trip to California to remove the cataract in his good eye. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful, but his story inspired thousands. On that trip he was able to see and experience more of the US than some people do in a lifetime!

Even though Mike is blind, he has no trouble getting around. He is a dwarf cow, with two horns growing in opposite directions, and wavy hair. Mike is a cool and relaxed guy who captures everyone’s hearts who meets him. He enjoys attention and neck scratches, and comes when his name is called.

Sponsorships help us provide daily care, regular medical checkups and cover any unexpected emergency care costs for each animal. Sponsor Mike to help us provide the care he deserves!
