Hi, I’m Maggie
Through our partners at Farmaste Animal Sanctuary in Minnesota, Barn recently agreed to foster and cover the medical expenses for two newborn lambs rescued from a farm that couldn't care for them. There was a third little girl, Rachel, who had already passed away before we arrived. Sadly, the little boy didn't make it either. We provided specialized medical care for him at UMN with round-the-clock monitoring for several days, but his injuries were too severe. Farmaste caregivers were there the whole time with them.
The little girl is a fighter. She has parrot mouth, elevated sodium, an enlarged heart, and possible aspiration pneumonia — and she doesn't care one bit. She screams for her bottle at every feeding. She's stable, receiving IV fluids, and being closely monitored by her incredible care team.
Medically, things are looking up. We will continue working with our vets to give her the best medical attention as she grows.
The best update is that Maggie has already made herself right at home. She's become best friends with the trailer cats, gets into mischief the moment we look away, and absolutely lives for bottle time and zoomies around the trailer.
She still has a road ahead, but this girl is thriving — and we are so grateful for everyone who helped get her here. Maggie will be quarantining in our animal care trailer for the next month as she continues to grow and receive the extra care she needs. If you'd like to help cover costs like her ongoing medical expenses or daily care, please consider making a donation. Every dollar goes directly toward giving this little fighter the life she deserves.
Your sponsorship will help provide daily care, regular medical checkups, and cover any unexpected emergency care. Please sponsor Maggie to provide the care she deserves!
