Hi, I’m Blossom

In June of 2017, Barn Sanctuary received a call from Black Sheep Crossing Animal Sanctuary about two donkey families in need of a new home. Their caretakers, being in their 70s, were having a hard time caring for some of their larger animals and asked US to help find their donkeys a new forever home.

Knowing it would be hard to re-home 7 donkeys together, Barn Sanctuary agreed to take them ourselves. Blossom arrived with her daughter, Beulah, and friends; Virginia, Sylvia, Sigwalda (aka Siggie), Mary Pete, and Axle. Unfortunately, in December of 2017, Virginia and Sylvia passed away from old age.

Blossom is one of two mini donkeys and is currently the oldest resident at the sanctuary, followed by her daughter. Blossom is the attention seeker of the group and she gets especially jealous of her daughter if she is getting more attention. She is a bit timid, but she still loves getting snuggles and scratches from her human friends. When the weather is warm, she loves rolling around and taking dust baths in her yard.
