Social Media/Marketing Intern
Barn Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for farmed animals that have been abused, abandoned, slated for death or are victims of natural disasters. We show farmed animals in a new light, highlighting their individuality by sharing their unique stories and educating the public about the treatment of animals raised for human consumption. We envision a world in which farmed animals are seen as individuals and treated with empathy and compassion.
Do you care about farmed animals and aspire to develop a career in social networking? Then join the Barn Sanctuary team as our social media intern! You’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your talent and build the experience and successful track record you need to advance your social media and marketing career. We are looking for a part- or full-time intern to translate our mission and core values into ideas and executable plans to engage online audiences in the social media space, and produce measurable results in expanding our community and support base.
Specifications
- We can offer flexibility with weekly hours and length of the internship to accommodate academic/work schedules.
- PAID full and part time internships are available, 10-20 hours a week.
- 10-12 week commitment available year-round.
- This internship will be performed mostly on site and interns must be able to commute and provide their own transportation.
- Interns must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and plan to dress appropriately
- All necessary PPE will be provided.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in developing a social media strategy.
- Assist with developing social media posts.
- Establish measurements and success metrics for social networking initiatives.
- Translate the day-to-day realities and issues of our organization into engaging stories and effective campaigns to engage and expand our online community and support base.
- Assist the team with marketing and media relations initiatives as needed.
- Provide special event help as needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing engaging social media content on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Experience reporting on social media performance.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills.
- Photography and/or video skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning our philosophy, mission, history, issues.
- Strong communication skills needed.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Barn Sanctuary.
