This November, Barn Sanctuary President Dan was alerted to a baby goat in desperate need of rescue. Before her rescue, we were told she was unable to feed from her mother and had severe muscle stiffness in her limbs. Dan rushed to pick her up and bring her to Michigan State University. Dan named this sweet girl Faith.
At MSU, Faith’s condition turned out to be much worse than reported and her veterinarian found that Faith was suffering from severe sepsis in her joints, had deterioration in one of her hips, and needed surgery immediately.
Faith was in good spirits despite the severity of her condition. She was showing affection towards those caring for her — she had a strong will to live and was truly a fighter.
Her vets at MSU did everything they could to fight off the infection in her joints while keeping her as comfortable as possible. She had to have her joints drained and flushed every day to keep the infection under control.
We were hopeful that she could continue to fight and were willing to do everything in our power to give her the best possible chance at a full life.
Unfortunately, despite everything, it was clear that Faith’s health was declining and her will to push on was fading. Dan rushed to MSU to speak with her care team, and they came to the very difficult decision to let Faith go peacefully.
There’s no doubt that Faith was a fighter and she gave it her all. Dan spent time with Faith and her care team to say goodbye, and her final moments were spent peacefully and with love.
Thank you for believing in Faith and giving her the best possible chance at a happy life. We couldn’t possibly continue to give individuals like Faith a chance at a full life without your care and support.
