Dan was notified on December 20th, 2021 of a 10-month-old bull that suffered a brutal dog attack. The young cow was in desperate need, and we were able to go on site and pick him up the very same day.
When we arrived on the scene, the bull had something cloaked over his head. We realized that someone had noticed the cow’s injuries the night before and draped gauze over his head to cover the wounds. When we tried to remove the gauze, it was already hardened to his wounds and was stuck in place. We rushed this bull up to Michigan State University for triage and urgent medical attention.

We could tell right away that this bull has a big heart. He spent the night at MSU, and today we got the news that he’s stable, but half of both ears are gone. We know that he deserves a chance at a safe and healthy life.
He’ll be at MSU for at least a couple of weeks while his care team provides sedation and daily treatments; he’s had a lot of debridement on both ears. His vets also noted that he is extremely skinny and underweight for his age. At 10 months, he weighs less than a bull half his age. Despite his physical state and injuries, he is gentle and sweet and has a great appetite. We know he is strong and we are here to support him through his recovery.
