On a Spring night in 2019, Ty was rescued from a transport trailer destined for a finishing farm in Iowa who would fatten him up and prepare him for slaughter. He was a lucky piglet that night his rescuer took pity on him, brought him home, and called Barn Sanctuary.
After bringing him to his forever home at the sanctuary, we quickly found out that falling in love with Ty was inevitable. As a young piglet, Ty was a bundle of cuddles and affection. He loved being around people and would crawl into anyone’s lap for snuggles. From his first day at the sanctuary, Ty was a calm and kind-hearted pig. He spent his first few weeks at our Executive Director Kelly’s home with a baby goat named Lola. Kelly bottle-fed every four hours until he was ready to relocate to the sanctuary where he met Elsa and Anna —his new best friends.
Ty eventually grew up to be an independent pig, although he still spends his time with his pig besties, Elsa and Anna. The three of them have been caught snuggling one another often. Ty loves a belly rub and face massage from his humans, and you can find him grazing, rooting and playing in the pasture.
