Protective of his ladies. Sometime in the early fall of 2018, Roy was dumped along a sparsely populated country road outside Holly, Michigan. A family, accustomed to taking in cats and dogs that had been abandoned along their road, discovered Roy wandering around their backyard one evening. Unsure how to best care for a rooster, they contacted Barn Sanctuary.

Upon his arrival, Roy was nervous and often lashed out at staff and volunteers out of fear. The conditions he came from prior to being dumped are unknown, but it is clear that Roy has not had many positive interactions with humans. We teach him to trust his caretakers so he can live a life free of fear and stress.

It was discovered that Roy had pretty much every parasite that a bird could have, so he was immediately put on medications to clear these up. It did not take long for his condition to improve and Roy is slowly growing accustomed to his new home.

Roy is an absolutely stunning gentleman who will finally know a life of love and respect. If you choose to sponsor Roy, you are helping us make sure that he will remain happy and healthy here at the sanctuary.
