In November 2022, Barn Sanctuary received a social media message about an injured chicken. A caring person found him left in a ditch after he was attacked by another animal. She brought Percy back to her home for a chance at survival and find a forever home.
Once we went and retrieved Percy, we discovered he had other injuries. On top of his neck wound from being attacked, we also learned Percy has deformed legs die to improper nutrition when he was young and cannot walk properly.
Percy is still healing and adjusting to his move to Barn. Once he’s settled and comfortable in a coop with other chickens, we’re hoping more of Percy’s personality comes out and he relaxes into his home.
