Hi, I’m Lola

Photos of Lola

See All

Lola was 13 days old when we rescued her in March 2019. She was surrendered to us after she had developed a bad case of frostbite on her back hooves and legs.

The skin on her back legs and hooves started to peel off in her first weeks at the sanctuary. We monitored her closely in her first few weeks, frequently visiting the vet for checkups. As the frostbite progressed she developed an infection. It became clear she was in a lot of pain. We were advised to amputate both back legs to prevent the infection from spreading. Lola had a long road to recovery after her surgery. It took months of daily physical therapy and trying a variety of prosthetics to find a mobility solution. Eventually she learned to use her prosthetics and began walking!

Lola loves human attention. In fact, we sometimes call her “Princess Lola,” as she demands frequent visits from anyone and everyone. She is playful and kind, and is always poised and ready for a photo and chin scratch. Lola went been through a lot at a young age, and she’s proven to be a determined and courageous young lady.

Sponsorships help us provide daily care, regular medical checkups and cover unexpected emergency care. Sponsor Lola to help us provide the care she deserves!

Introduce me to your friends!

She like her prosthetics better than the cart because it allows her to do more “goat” things, such as hopping.

Lola got her own quarantine room and was showered with pillows, blankets, and other gifts from our staff who had missed her dearly while she was recovering at the hospital.
