See All

Joey was born in March of 2019 at a farm in Michigan with a wry nose and a cleft palate. He was surrendered to us at only two weeks old by the farmer who decided he wanted to give Joey a chance at living a long and normal life.

The combination of Joey’s wry nose and cleft palate posed a threat to his safety. The veterinarians recommended a series of corrective surgeries to ensure he could breathe, eat and drink risk-free for the rest of his life.

Even though Joey endured several corrective surgeries on his face as a young calf, his time at the hospital didn’t dull his positive spirit. Joey is a kind and calm boy who gets along with humans and other animals. He still breathes heavy and slobbers adorably on everyone he comes into contact with. If you don’t mind a little drool, Joey loves neck scratches and face rubs.

Sponsorships help us provide daily care, regular medical checkups and cover any unexpected emergency care costs for each animal. Sponsor Joey to help us provide the care he deserves!

Fun Facts About Cows

Cow picnics are real!

Cows are social animals and naturally form large herds. Like people, they make friends and bond to some, while avoiding others.

Super-hearing!

Cattle are able to hear a much wider range of sound frequencies than humans. The environment is full of sounds inaudible to humans but clearly audible to cattle.

Don’t bite, curl!

Cows don’t actually bite grass; they curl their tongue around it. Cows like to graze on rolling land, although they are able to graze anywhere!
