Henry arrived at the Barn Sanctuary Fall of 2016, he was our first rescue alongside Cora. He was rescued from an auction where he would have been sold to the highest bidder and eventually slaughtered. Henry was rescued by a woman who wanted to teach her children and their classmates that Henry’s life was worth more than money and the “product” he was seen for. Because of the women’s compassionate heart, as a young calf, Henry was brought to his forever home at Barn Sanctuary.
As a calf, Henry was shy. He would back away from any affection or human interaction. But now if you try to play with Henry, he will spring into action!
Henry is very sensitive and wears his emotions clearly. He can appear impatient and moody. However, in reality, this seemingly temperamental boy is very emotional. He’s a secret softy with a giant heart. When one of our resident donkeys passed away in 2017, Henry spent hours in the field lying curled up next to her. He took the loss harder than any of the other residents.
